Im A Celebrity fans wince at Nigel Farages awkward reunion with girlfriend

I'm A Celebrity came to a end this weekend, with Made in Chelsea star Sam Thompson beating out his fellow campmates to come out on top.

But whilst attention was turned to Sam and his happy moments, some fans were left cringing when controversial politician Nigel Farage was voted out of the show. Things were only worsened when he was reunited with his French politician girlfriend across the wire bridge.

After leaving camp, with Sam in camp together with professional boxer Tony Bellew, the GB News host left the hosts' treehouse as he walked over to see his loved one on the other side. As he reached his girlfriend Laure Ferrari, he fell into her arms and the pair hugged.

However, eagle-eyed fans of the show were confused as many speculated that their show of love was particularly cold and lacking in affection. One viewer watching the show took to social media to wonder what happened: "Although even I will say, as a loyal follower, that bridge reunion with his girlfriend was so awkward!"

A second person also believed the pair were not particularly involved with each other. They wrote: "Nigel's [girlfriend] couldn't have gotten away from him quick enough then!"

Whilst a third viewer joked that Nigel "pushed her out of the way" so that "she didn't ruin his moment" in the spotlight. The pair have kept their romance well out of the public eye, with Laure's appearance across the bridge being the first time the twosome were papped together.

As well as sharing a tight embrace on the bridge, Ferrari also gave Farage a small peck on the cheek as the pair seemed happy to see each other. Laure, 44, has been dating Nigel for six years, though little is known about the pair's private life.

But recently, the French politician was rushed to hospital after she suffered a terrifying surfing accident. A friend of the woman said that she had been injured whilst at Surfer's Paradise, where she had been staying – patiently waiting for her boyfriend to return.

The pal had added: "Laure ended up having an accident while surfing; it was nothing serious but she headed to hospital to get her right arm checked over. She is going to be in a sling for a week or two but she’s in good spirits and is having a great time in Australia."

Nigel was one of the last three campmates still in the jungle on Sunday night (December 10). In order to win one course for their final meal, the trio had to take on individual trials, with Nigel being trapped inside a coffin for 10 minutes as animals were fed into the container.

But fans watching at home slammed the show for giving Nigel the easiest of the three contestants. Farage himself even admitted he was not scared, responding to Ant and Dec that he was "having a lovely time".
