MING Unveils Its First-Ever Book, 'A Quest For All Positions'

Independent Swiss watchmaker, MING, has unveiled its first book, A Quest For All Positions. The publication acts as a compendium of the first five years of its watchmaking, featuring over 50 references, alongside “much horological masochism and (mis)adventure.”

Written by Jack Forster, Watchbox’s Global Editorial Director, the book is said to be filled with a variety of anecdotes, Easter eggs, lessons and other details that document the brand’s first five years.

MING jokes that they couldn’t think of a better person to write the book than Forster, largely because he’s forgotten more about watches than most will ever learn but also because MING’s co-founder, Ming Thein or “MT,” has known Forster for over two decades.

Looking at specifications, each book measures 30x30x4cm, weighs 3.5kg and encompasses 282 pages. In addition to Forster’s words and MT’s pictures, there is also a complete collection of all the OneHourWatch/ Lee Yuen Rapati for MING drawings ever made included in the book.

The books are constructed with a linen-bound hardcover and come with a linen dustcover. Each is printed on sustainable materials by Artron Art Printing, published by Horologer Ming SA and limited to 500 first-edition copies — available for $284 USD via MING’s official site.
