Prince Harry has not turned his back on UK and California life is not permanent

Rumours persist that Prince Harry is keen to reunite with his family this Christmas, as well as start to introduce his two young children – Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – to the royal traditions he grew up with.

Despite now living full-time in the US, the couple confirmed they wished for their children – who are sixth and seventh in line to the throne – to be styled as a Prince and a Princess and not miss out on their "birth right" as grandchildren of the monarch.

Regardless of the fact the couple have launched various attacks on Harry's family back in the UK, it is clear he still feels connected to his homeland and recently hinted at a possible return after calling the US his home "at the moment".

This stance is something that former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond says is positive, but can't see it happening for several years thanks to the "awkwardness" that will exist between Harry and his family.

Speaking exclusively to OK!, Jennie said: "I was very interested to hear Harry say in evidence to a court that he still regards the UK as his home and that it is central to the heritage of his children.

"He says he wants them to feel at home in the UK as much as where they live at the moment in the US. This is the clearest indication we’ve had that the Prince has not turned his back on his home country once and for all.

"Indeed, it sounds as life in the USA is not necessarily permanent. It tells us that he does indeed miss aspects of his previous life and that he does want his children to understand the world they were born into.

"But I don’t think it proves he’s uncomfortable with his life in California. He believes this is the best place for his wife and family for now.

"He has a measure of freedom and relaxed lifestyle that would be hard to replicate over here at the moment.

"So he does indeed have to make the best of it, but I don’t honestly believe that’s too hard for him as things stand. There is one heck of a lot of awkwardness in the offing when, and if, he sees his UK family again."

With Christm as fast approaching, it has been claimed the couple and their children could be spending the festive period in the UK, rather than at their home in California.

It was reported the family could make the journey across the pond after they received offers to stay with not only the Royal Family, but with close family friends too.

It comes after stories continue to swirl that Prince Harry is feeling homesick for the UK and wishes to spend a greater deal of his time here.

Experts have also suggested he is keen to introduce his young children to the traditions he enjoyed so much growing up in locations such as Sandringham, Windsor and Balmoral.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl told GB News that Harry will be looking to recreate some British festive traditions for his children, but he will be unable to replicate the royal experience at Sandringham, where the Firm spend Christmas and New Year.

She said: "I am sure there are moments when Harry must feel homesick. California is a world away from Britain and a world away from a British Christmas.

"I suspect they will have many of the British traditions that Harry is used to, we have seen him dressing the tree with Archie. They will have as close to a British Christmas in California as they can.

"Of course, what they won't have is the traditional royal Christmas experience at Sandringham."
